Teacher education courses and programs are available at greatly reduced prices through the North Carolina Model Teacher Education Consortium (NCMTEC). The NCMTEC is a collaborative partnership of 39 school systems, 10 colleges and universities, and 28 community colleges that have joined together to make teacher education programs and courses accessible and affordable for employees in the participating school systems. With funding provided by North Carolina's General Assembly and the school systems, college courses at the participating four-year institutions and the community colleges, as well as, Praxis preparation seminars are available for employees of the school system.
